Davis Murphy

Pondering who I am and what my deal is? Well then, let me fill in those blank spots for you. First and foremost, my name is W. Davis Murphy, Jr. For sake of simplicity, I prefer either Davis or murf, I'll leave what to call me up to you however.

The digital world has always intrigued me. I've dabbled in the creation of websites since I was 13. I took classes in high school on programming and video production. It was however, a nifty little program called "Photoshop" that really drew me into the realm of the digital arts. I had always been a bit of doodler and now I could use Photoshop to do more with my art then ever before.

In April of 2004 I produced a guest strip for a fairly popular online comic. From the positive fan-reaction to the comic I opted to return once again into the realm of web design. This resulted in the creation of murf-STUFF, a large online gallery for my personal projects. During the building of the site I came to realize how little I knew of web, but also how much I enjoyed just putzing about doing it. This also lead to the decision to persue a career in the digital arts.

After attending Full Sail Real World Education I not only had improved my Graphic Design and HTML skills, but now could claim CSS, PHP/MySQL, Motion Graphics, Flash, Interactive Design, Video Editing and 3D as new tricks in my bag. I really enjoy working on this kind of stuff. I've been known to spend large amounts of my spare time drawing, playing in Photoshop, building websites and studying new techniques. Some may call me crazy for it, but at least I do something I enjoy doing, and for me, that's the most important thing.
